Kassandra is a rising junior Psychology major and Elementary Education minor. She has always been passionate about social justice issues, and, after taking Science in the City her sophomore year, realized that teaching can be a powerful form of social justice work. Kassandra plans to teach science after graduation, and hopes to eventually transition to non-profit education advocacy. Her love of teaching has prompted her to work with organizations such as the Double Discovery Center, Peer Health Exchange, and America Reads. She looks forward to eventually having her own classroom, where she will take a student-directed, interdisciplinary approach to teaching.

  • Student Teacher placement 2018: Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School
Shoshi Miller is a senior at Barnard studying Psychology and Elementary Education. During her student teaching placement this fall, she will co-teach a third-grade class at Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School. Following graduation, Shoshi hopes to attend graduate school to receive a Master’s degree in Special Education. She is extremely passionate about educational equality, and loves working with young students in New York City schools, where she helps to ensure that all children, regardless of special needs or socioeconomic status, can reach their full potential. Shoshi is excited about the support and guidance that she will receive from the Noyce Program as she pursues a career in STEM education.

Krystina Williamson.

Krystina Williamson is junior at Barnard College majoring in Physics. As a Noyce Scholar, she will be pursuing a physics teaching certificate for junior high and high school students. Krystina is especially interested in physics education inequity, the formation of physics identities, and teacher leadership. Krystina first discovered her love for physics in an eighth grade middle school classroom, where she discovered that physics was not only the science that answered her many questions, but was also the science that helped one make rockets. She hopes to bring her passion and perseverance in science, her background in education and her life experiences as a black woman to help her students acknowledge their capability to succeed in science. When she's not ranting about poorly-written physics textbooks, she can be found creating clothes in the MakerSpace, leading tours as a Barnard Students Admissions Representative, editing papers as a Barnard Writing Fellow, or watching Star Trek.
